Meet Our Logo Design Artist

May contain: apparel, clothing, person, human, shirt, text, accessories, tie, and accessory

Last fall, Project AWE invited Elk Grove Unified School District high school students enrolled in graphic arts academies and programs to participate in a contest to design our new logo. We received many outstanding entries from Franklin and Cosumnes Oaks high schools, all of which creatively captured our vision and mission.

Though it was tough, we narrowed the field down to three finalists: senior Gabriel Shane Aguirre from Franklin High School’s Digital Art and Graphic Design II Class, and senior Ethan Morales and junior Kylar Phan, both members of the Cosumnes Oaks High School Graphic Design Pathway and extracurricular Graphic Design Club.

The finalists then submitted several revisions of their original designs, changing color schemes, fonts, and layouts. In the end, Kylar Phan’s logo emerged as the perfect fit for our program.

Kylar’s bright and innovative design uses colors and symbols to represent the pillars of Project AWE:  Agriculture, Water, Energy and the Environment. Kylar's design will represent our program for years to come,
