Composting Demonstration

May contain: person, human, wood, den, dog house, and kennel

Part of our mission is to present modern-day and future sustainability practices employed by California farms. One such practice is composting organic waste. Our new three-part compost bin was designed and constructed by local teen, Marcus Liley, as  his Eagle Project for Boy Scout Troop 59. All organic waste generated on our site will be recylced in the compost bins. Accompanying the bins is a rotating drum exhibit describing the composting process. The rotating drum was designed and constructed by students in the Green Energy and Technology Academy at Laguna Creek High School. Finally, students in the Innovative Design and Engineering Academy at Pleasant Grove High School are designing and constructing a vermiculture exhibit.  Worm composting (vermiculture) also recylces organic waste into nutritious plant food!
