The Nicolaus Dairy is home to many species of wild birds. Because coexistence with wildlife is an important consideration of local famers, we wanted to provide additional shelter for our resident songbirds. Troop 59 Boy Scout Michael Pate orchestrated the design, construction, and installation of 30 passerine bird boxes to fulfill the requirements for his Eagle Project. Before the last box was installed, many already had happy occupants! Thank you, Michael and your crew of volunteers!
Another scout from Troop 59, Ragahv Vasudevan, designed and built boxes for our local flying predators. Our resident owls, bats, and kestrels have new homes! Visitors will be fortunate to see these wild birds in their home settings.
